  • "Mama Say" has been a fixture in the Top 40 video ranking on The Box.
  • Bloodhound Gang sold close to 5,000 Dingleberry Haze EPs independently earlier this year.

The Blood Hound Gang rocks the Mercury Theatre

Last Friday night at the Mercury Theatre The Blood Hound Gang rocked the house.

Heading to the show, I was somewhat skeptical of how they were going to sound live. The CD pleased me, but since there was a great deal of dubbing involved, I
wasn't too sure about how they would pull it off at a live performance.

After the opening band, Torture Kitty, The Blood Hound Gang took their place on the stage. A good amount of people (a good amount for the Mercury that is)
began to make their way to the front. A few of the fans found it necessary to slam dance, but as whole, the audience seemed to be have a great time.

The Gang put on a very entertaining show, throwing out free singles of their song "Mama Say." The sound guy kept up perfectly with the dubbing, and the singers
worked well off each other, as they did their all-too-familiar Beastie Boys-style trade off.

After the show, the guys rushed off to an all-night rave, but I had the chance to find out how some of the fans enjoyed the performance.

Elizabeth West, senior in advertising, said, "It was a raging good time! I wasn't sure what to expect and I really enjoyed it. I might even buy the CD."

"They're very energetic. The slam dancers were kind of scary though. I like the free single," said Leigh Ann Boutwell, senior in journalism.

Other fans could be seen supporting the group with their Blood Hound Gang temporary tattoos. One guy even had one on his forehead.

I suppose my skepticism came too soon because I enjoyed the show. If they happen to come to Knoxville or any other town I may be visiting, I'll go see them
again. Until then I'll just keep listening to them on my own copy of their CD, Use Your Fingers.
